It is our philosophy at SHHRC to provide our wonderful horses with the best and most comprehensive care available.  We deeply appreciate all donations made for this purpose.  We have renamed the “Saving Gracie Emergency Fund” to the “Remembering Gracie Horse Care Fund” in order to provide for our horses’ needs.  This will be an ongoing fund for those who would like to participate in a more direct way in our horses care.  Thank you for supporting our angels with hooves.

As some of you may remember, on Thursday, March 12, 2009, Gracie was seriously injured when she stepped on a screw. Even with surgery, treatment and the best care, the treating veterinarian found that the damage was too extensive and there was no hope of recovery for Gracie.  Gracie’s quality of life and our desire for her to have a life without pain was of paramount importance.  When it was clear that this would not be possible, we made the most difficult decision and she was euthanized.
